Herbicides and their potential to disrupt plant–insect chemical communication

چکیده
Ecological interactions between plants and insects are of paramount importance for the maintenance biodiversity ecosystem functioning. Herbicides have long been considered a threat to plant insect populations, but global increases in intensive agriculture availability herbicide-resistant crops intensified concerns about their full impact on biodiversity. Here, we argue that exposure sublethal herbicide doses has potential alter plant–insect as result disruptions chemical communication. This is because herbicides interfere with biosynthetic pathways phytohormones involved production several classes volatiles mediate Sublethal can modify morphological life-history traits affect insects. However, changes consequences communication not yet received much attention. We discuss how target-site (disruptors primary metabolism) non-target-site (synthetic auxins) could disrupt suggest research avenues fill current gap our knowledge might derive recommendations applied solutions minimize herbicides' impacts

Effect of chemical herbicides and insecticides on mortality and feeding of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix)
Fingerlings of Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) were used in an ecotoxicological investigation. The fish were exposed to (0.3-10 mg/l) Machete, (3-5 mg/l) Saturn, (1.5-13 mg/l) Diazinon and (1-10 mg/l) Malathion to measure the toxicity effect of these chemicals on mortality, feeding and ingestion rate. Methods for investigation on mortality were according to TRC (1984) and feeding beha...
متن کاملInhibitors of shikimate dehydrogenase as potential herbicides.
The shikimic acid biosynthetic pathway, which operates in micro-organisms and higher plants but not in mammals, leads to several essential amino acids and also to a variety of other metabolites. It was hoped, therefore, that blockage of the pathway might have a damaging effect on plant metabolism, giving a useful commercial herbicide with selective toxicity. Shikimate dehydrogenase, the enzyme ...
متن کاملA Review on Isolation and Identification of Endophytic Actinobacteria, Their Chemical Structure, Bioactive Compounds, and Potential Medical-Pharmaceutical Applications
Over recent years, nosocomial infections, and the morbidity and mortality associated with pathogenic bacteria have dramatically increased due to antibiotic resistance and imposed significant burdens on the global health system. Critical shortage of effective therapeutics against multidrug-resistant bacteria highlights the need for development of novel antibiotics. Actinobacteria are well-known...
متن کاملSexual communication in castniid moths: Males mark their territories and appear to bear all chemical burden
Castniid moths (Lepidoptera: Castniidae) display a butterfly-like reproductive behavior, i.e., they use visual stimuli for mate location and females have apparently lost their pheromone glands in an evolutionary context. In this paper we report for the first time the identification of three new compounds, namely n-octadecyl acetate, (Z)-9-octadecenyl acetate and (E,Z)-2,13-octadecadienyl acetat...

Benzoximate (I; Fig. 1) is an acaricide developed by Nippon Soda in 1971 (Iwataki, 1992). However, scientifics of the company observed that some benzohydroxamates showed weak herbicidal activity. After much synthetic developments, a new lead compound, an ethoxyimino dehydroacetic acid derivative (II; Fig. 1), showed a strong pre-emergence herbicidal activity against annual grass weed without an...
